Around this time every year, the questions start in parents' WhatsApp groups. Has registration opened? Is my child old enough? Which documents do they want? If you're feeling a little rushed, you're not alone.
This checklist is for any parent in Ludhiana applying for Nursery for 2027–28, whichever school you choose. Details for The Shri Ram Universal School, Sarabha Nagar are at the end.
Before you look at a single form, write down what matters most to you. It might be distance from home, the number of children in a class, how a school settles new children, or whether your child can stay in the same school for years without another admission.

Keep the list short. It helps when every brochure starts to sound the same.
Many schools count your child's age on a fixed date, often 31 March of the year of admission. The cut-off can differ a little from school to school, so read each school's notice instead of relying on what a friend was told.
Schools usually ask for much the same things:
A transfer certificate and previous report card are only needed when a child is moving from another school, so you won't need them for Nursery. Make two sets of photocopies, and keep scans on your phone for online forms.
A form can't show you much. A visit can. Watch the children more than the building. Are they busy? Does anyone look lost?

Then ask a few plain questions:
A good school will be happy to answer every one.
Registration windows in Ludhiana vary, and some are open only for a few days. A small table on your phone saves a lot of last-minute panic.
| School | Registration window | Visit date | Fee details asked? | Documents submitted |
|---|---|---|---|---|
A week here or there rarely matters as much as the right fit. Call, ask, and visit twice if you need to. Your child will spend thousands of mornings in this place.

Here is where things stand at The Shri Ram Universal School, Sarabha Nagar.
Seats. Pre-Nursery and Nursery seats for 2027–28 are open but filling. LKG is full. For other classes, please call admissions to check.
Age. As on 31 March 2027, Pre-Nursery is for children of about 2 to 2.5 years and Nursery is for children of 3.
The process. You start with a Parent Information form, visit the campus and meet an educator for an informal chat. There is no test for a three-year-old. The full steps are on our Admission Process page. The registration fee is Rs 1,000. It is separate and is not adjusted against school fees. Contact admissions for the fee structure on +91 98140 78825.
The class. Each Nursery and KG section has 15 to 20 children with 2 teachers and a didi. The didi is a helper who stays with the class and helps with washroom trips and anything else a child needs. It's a nurturing start, with enough adults in the room for every child to be noticed.
Settling in. New children come for 1 to 1.5 hours a day at first. Once they've settled, usually within 15 to 20 days, they stay for the full day. In summer that's 7:50 am to 12:40 pm.
After the first month. Every family meets our admissions team, the academic coordinator and the vice principal to talk about how things are going. If you'd like to meet the principal as well, she's happy to see you.
Saturdays. Kindergarten families are invited to a storytelling session. From Grade 1, families join a hands-on STEM and digital literacy session, and children start using our labs. That is where the 21st century skills we care about begin: AI, robotics and digital literacy, learnt by doing. You can see the STEM Lab online.

One admission only. Once your child joins, there's no fresh admission later. UKG children move into Grade 1 automatically.
When should I apply for Nursery for 2027–28?
